Lesson objective

Priority, not dropping in, and staying out of the way of others.

Who has priority

In many places the surfer closest to the breaking part of the wave has priority. Taking a wave in front of them is called dropping in and is unsafe.

Choose the right spot

Beginners are usually safest at spots and times recommended by local surf schools and lifeguards.

Before you go on the water

This is educational material only. Learn with a qualified instructor, check current local official safety guidance and conditions, and never paddle or surf alone as a beginner.
